Video Review of the Indexes 1-22-2012
January 22, 2012 at 9:20 am
Last week the indexes added a couple percent to continue their ascent from the December lows. New recovery highs were established as prior resistance zones were cleared, keeping the bulls in the driver’s seat for another week.
In preparation for the trading week ahead, let’s examine some important levels to keep an eye on for the indexes. That will have the greatest influence on how individual stocks are going to move, so it’s part of our Sunday process.

The Definition of Momentum Has Changed
January 18, 2012 at 3:03 pm
Temporarily, at least. It used to be that the word momentum inspired fear of being left behind, but that was sooo October of last year. Today’s momentum is quite different, and it requires a different approach for good trading.
Check out my post at MarketWatch from today on this, along with some unique characteristics of the current environment.

Video Review of the Indexes 1-16-2012
January 16, 2012 at 2:23 pm
Last week provided some early strength, some late weakness, and plenty of lateral price action in between as the indexes finished modestly higher. A long-overdue pullback finally kicked in on Friday, although time will tell whether the dip will prompt more selling or simply provide another opportunity to put cash to work.
The story stocks of the week were generally those which have been quite heavily shorted and/or beaten-down such as NFLX, FSLR (and other solars YGE, TSL, etc.), each of which offered impressive moves higher. Otherwise, we saw some healthy basing action which should help many charts to set up in the days ahead.
In preparation for the holiday-shortened trading week ahead, let’s examine some important levels to keep an eye on for the indexes. That will have the greatest influence on how individual stocks are going to move, so it’s where the trading week’s research begins.

Video Review of the Indexes 12-18-2011
December 18, 2011 at 2:36 pm
The indexes gave up some ground last week, placing them lower within their respective intermediate-term wedges. Bounce attempts on Thursday & Friday saw poor closes, indicating the buyers still are lacking the enthusiasm needed to regain short-term control.
As we head into a brand new week of trading, let’s examine some important levels to keep an eye on in the days ahead. That will have the greatest influence on how individual stocks are going to move, so it’s where the trading week begins.

Video Review of the Indexes 12-11-2011
December 11, 2011 at 9:05 pm
Last week proved constructive in that not only did the market gain a little ground, but after seeing an opportunity to pick up speed on the downside the dip-buyers emerged once again.
With intermediate-term higher lows in place, the technical setup is favorable at this point for the bulls, but they’ll have to maintain their edge and make it happen. Should they produce even a modest lift, we’ll be looking at new recovery highs with ease.

Video Review of the Indexes 12-4-2011
December 4, 2011 at 4:29 pm
The indexes ripped higher last week after a 7-session streak of declines, trapping overly aggressive bears with some huge opening gaps to the upside. And given the size of the advance, an intermediate-term higher low may have been established in the process.
As we head into a brand new week of trading, let’s examine some important levels to keep an eye on in the days ahead. That will have the greatest influence on how individual stocks are going to move, so it’s where the trading week begins.

Video Review of the Indexes 11-20-2011
November 19, 2011 at 9:01 pm
Last week the indexes pulled back to test some important levels, with the NAZ actually cracking 2600. For the time being, support zones elsewhere are holding, leaving the door open for a rally higher within the range.
This week only has 3 1/2 trading sessions, with the market being closed Thursday in observance of Thanksgiving, then an early close on Friday. For all intents and purposes, it will feel like even less than 3 1/2 sessions though, so it’s a good time to be selective and trade smaller due to the diminishing volume as the week progresses.
As we head into a brand new week of trading, let’s examine some important levels to keep an eye on in the days ahead. That will have the greatest influence on how individual stocks are going to move, so it’s where the trading week begins.
